Hello and thank you for visiting. In nursing school while doing our hospital rotations, our professor once asked “What is the worst thing that could happen here and how can you prevent it?”
Quick! Where are the chemicals like bleach, hand sanitizer, and other disinfectants in your home? Are they out on the table or counter or just in reach where tiny hands might pull them down? Is your new pup able to chew that bottle of sanitizer you left down low? Bleach alone can rob children of their vision. Mixing chemicals can produce life threatening lung damage.
Many of us have purchased or been given helpful but potentially dangerous chemicals to eliminate COVID-19 from the surfaces in our home. We know that it is extremely dangerous for anyone to eat or drink these products; however, reports of these life threatening situations have increased since we are at home. Please take a minute for life and quickly gather these products and put them out of reach of those who may be harmed by them. If you have put a chemical in an unmarked bottle, please take a moment and label it right now.
At times we feel we don’t have much control in our lives at all, when we take these tiny steps to make our homes safer we do make a difference. If you have someone in mind that might benefit from this information please share it today. Air hugs, Nurse Poppy
